You've changed the frequency in the wrong location, make sure you're changing it from the "Project Rate" drop-down box, lower-left of your screen.

Source games require frequency to be 11025Hz (8000Hz is for HL1 games).

Did you follow this visual guide exactly? Be mindful of *which* frequency setting you're changing (make sure its the "Project Rate" drop-down box at the bottom of your screen) and also be sure you are setting the correct frequency for the game you are playing ( 8000 Hz for HL1, 11025 Hz for Source ...
