1) Does HLDJ launch the game correctly for you?
ya
2) Does "HLDJ Loaded Successfully" appear in console on starting the game (with no errors)?
sometimes it says it couldn't execute one of the .cfg's, however i don't think it was an important one.
3) What is the console output after selecting a song, or issuing other HLDJ commands such as "hldj_next"?
all that works fine
4) After loading one of the sample audio files, perform a search of your Steam directory (without stopping HLDJ) for the file "voice_input.wav" - does it show up, and if so, where?
here's the thing, it wasn't in the Obsidian Conflict's folder nor in Sourcemods, it was in Source SDK 2007 in my account. I'll try this a few more times just to make sure though.
5) Does voice normally work for you? If not, or you do not have a mic, have you remembered to set up any applicable options in your operating system and/or the game?
Mic works fine
Hello. I've got the same old problem of whenever I press my play button, it turns on the mic but doesn't do the input from file thing, so I just hear myself. However, I only get this problem in a mod, but this is strange because I used to get HLDJ to work on Synergy back when it was still in the sourcemods folder.
You see, a long while ago I had XP, and I got this problem a few times but always managed to resolve it. UNFORTUNATELY i now have Win7 and all this could be entirely it's fault.
Tomorrow when i get off work i'll make sure there aren't any voice_input files laying around (there were many when i looked for them, including one in the sourcemods folder, but the one that was from the .wav i most recently loaded was in source sdk 07) and test out the mod and HLDJ again.

Re: mic feedback
Assuming that Obsidian Conflict is the game you want HLDJ to work for, that's where the voice_input.wav should show up. HLDJ is supposed to delete that file when stopped though, so if you have many of these in different folders, something's up. You might want to check to see if have any other programs using those files while you use HLDJ. I don't think that'd cause much of a problem though. Check to see if HLDJ correctly points to the Obsidian Conflict program folder.

Re: mic feedback
Alright i just confirmed it. HLDJ points to steamapps/sourcemods/obsidian just fine, but it puts voice_input in the source sdk folder in my account. Here's another thing, while i'm in OC (v1.35) Steam says that I'm currently in-mod and calls it Source SDK 2007. Is that how orangebox-engine mods usually are?

Re: mic feedback
I can't point HLDJ to source sdk 2007 because apparently it doesn't have hl2.exe in it.
soooo..... i really don't know what to do here. it's obvious hldj is incorrectly handling voice_input.wav probably by creating it somewhere other than where it then goes and looks for it.

Re: mic feedback
If your game is a Source Mod (i.e. it exists under the "SourceMods" folder) then it loads and looks for content from the game it is modding from and this is where it will also look for voice_input.wav. You can change this Game Audio Directory in Setup, under the Advanced section for the game, and verify its location: http://www.hldj.org/manual/tips_tricks. ... meaudiodir
However I highly doubt HLDJ has got this information incorrect, instead make sure you are testing with the sample audio files on your own server (with "sv_allow_voice_from_file 1" if it applies to your game)
