HLSS redirect?
I normally use HLSS to use SFX in Source Engine games. On a whim today, I looked at the HLSS website, and it now redirects to HLDJ's website. All the auxiliary servers are now unreachable. Did HLSS get absorbed into HLDJ?

Re: HLSS redirect?
It would be news to me, but then again I've never used HLSS. I heard that recently an update to the source engine rendered LSS (another program of the same sort) unusable; it could be that HLSS suffered the same fate. HLDJ continues to work though and always will, as I understand it.
Re: HLSS redirect?
Not that I know about. There is really only HLSS and HLDJ. I know that the hlss website was just a fan website. Nobody really knows where the developer went, meaning no updates. Ever. So HLDJ is the only one with constant updates and in Active development.
Re: HLSS redirect?
This is really good to hear because this only means 10x more clients for HLDJ.

Re: HLSS redirect?
Well, it's not that it doesn't work anymore (It technically has no interaction with the Source Engine), it's just that the site is offline. I thought about using HLDJ at first, but I ended up going with HLSS because of the keyboard shortcut support. Perhaps add that into HLDJ?
Re: HLSS redirect?
There already is. They are called binds. And a system to make them easier will be released soon.

Re: HLSS redirect?
Yes, but binds are limited to one key, and it must be recognizable by the Source Engine. HLSS has/had support for modified binds such as Ctrl+<key>. The Source Engine doesn't.
Re: HLSS redirect?
Actually, with this guide: http://hldj.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=252 you can bind an infinite amount of keys.
Re: HLSS redirect?
He didn't mean HLSS allowed you to have more keybinds. He meant HLSS allowed to bind multiple keys for one bind, as hold CTRL and press K to execute a single command, for example. At least I think that's what he means. I don't know if HLDJ is incapable of that, but I don't see anything relating to that in the thread you linked.
Re: HLSS redirect?
In response to the OP's question, it is news to me.
In response to the secondary question, and to echo the answers here, binding audio to keys has always been possible. As mentioned, there are efforts in progress to make this easier, but (as also pointed in the linked thread) you can do this relatively easily yourself through scripting.
To clear it up, binds need not be limited to a single key nor conflict with actions you already have bound. As the topic points out, you can create a script that maps the same key to an infinite amount of actions, and use any modifier you choose, not just ctrl or alt.
Adding a global hotkey manager that simply hooks keypresses is quite easy to do; however that would defeat the purpose behind making HLDJ work within the game.

Re: HLSS redirect?
Hey all,
I am the webmaster of the former HLSS.US. A few months ago, I put the site in to a "locked" state (no more site updates, read only forums, etc) because there was really no future for HLSS.
JXL180 is also correct -- I didn't make the program, I just made the website to help people use it. But considering it's such an old program, and the original developer's status is unknown, I feel it was time to let the website go. There were also other reasons that I had mentioned on the HLSS forums. I just don't feel the need to keep a website running about an old and buggy program.
HLDJ is still supported by it's author, and that means the community can request new features, bugs can be fixed, etc. That is why I decided to redirect the HLSS.US to to HLDJ.ORG (until the domain expires in early 2011).
Anyways, no need for a long drawn out story. Those are the basics. I wish you all the best of luck with HLDJ

Re: HLSS redirect?
Thanks for clearing that up. It might be a good idea to post an explanation of this somewhere. I mean, well, you've already posted it here, but I mean somewhere where everyone can see it, because there might be other HLSS users who are confused about this.
Re: HLSS redirect?
Soma,
I know HLSS's website is gone.
But is there still a possible way to re-download it?
This question also applies to everyone else.
HLDJ is do damn confusing to meh

If you're having trouble with HLDJ, just tell us in the help forum what your problem is! (But you should read this first: http://hldj.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=21#p21)
