Songs + Sample come out as static, but went by manual

Post by Samelk »

1) Does HLDJ launch the game correctly for you?
Yessir
2) Does "HLDJ Loaded Successfully" appear in console on starting the game (with no errors)?
Yes
3) What is the console output after selecting a song, or issuing other HLDJ commands such as "hldj_next"?
Host_WriteConfiguration: Wrote cfg/hldj_cmd_b.cfg
Loaded : 04 Da Funk

4) After creating your own local server and enabling playing of audio files:
4-a) Load one of the sample audio files and perform a search of your Steam directory (without stopping HLDJ) for the file "voice_input.wav" - does it show up, and if so, where?
Yes, in C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/xxxxxx/team fortress 2
4-b) If it exists, open it in an audio player: does it sound like the audio file you loaded?
no
4-c) If it exists, return to the game, and enter the following into console:
Code:
voice_inputfromfile 1; voice_loopback 1; voice_forcemicrecord 0; voice_modenable 1; voice_enable 1; +voicerecord
Does the audio file start to play?
Sort of. The audio comes out like an ugly static.
5) Does voice normally work for you? If not, or you do not have a mic, have you remembered to set up any applicable options in your operating system and/or the game? *
Yes,
So, I'm having this problem where whenever I try to play a song, I get a weird static. The sample songs work only when I create my own server and enter "sv_allow_voice_from_file 1 sv_use_steam_voice 0" into the console. The songs that I've edited, however, do not work. I've followed the manual to the T so am pretty unsure of what's happening.
Attached is one of the songs I edited. If someone could tell me what I did wrong, it would be much appreciated.

A common problem is that you need to remove any meta/ID3 data when converting. When in doubt, the built-in converter will always convert correctly.

I used the built-in encoder, but now when I try to press the assigned key, I only get a text bubble: Nothing appears, not even a bar with the username. Could it be cos of the update?

Eh, nope. Nevermind. Even with the built-in converter, the songs come out as static.

If you're getting static with the sample files and the converted files, then the server you're on likely isn't configured properly. Conversely, upload the file generated by the converter along with the original pre-converted file and I can verify it's in the correct format.
