Okay, I know this is a typical problem people have been having and there's probably a typical answer... but I'm stumped.
I've tried troubleshooting this, but I haven't found a solution.
Sooooo... (Btw, this is for Team Fortress 2)
1) Does HLDJ launch the game correctly for you?
Yup, I hit the Start button and it starts the game flawlessly.
2) Does "HLDJ Loaded Successfully" appear in console on starting the game (with no errors)?
Yes, it says those exact words, no errors as far as I can tell
3) What is the console output after selecting a song, or issuing other HLDJ commands such as "hldj_next"?
Host_WriteConfiguration: Wrote cfg/hldj_cmd_b.cfg
Loaded : 20 Percent Cooler AlexS
4) Create your own local server and run the appropriate sv_ commands (see above), then:
4-a) Load one of the sample audio files and perform a search of your Steam directory (without stopping HLDJ) for the file "voice_input.wav" - does it show up, and if so, where?
Yes it shows up, and it shows up in...
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\\team fortress 2
4-b) If it exists, open it in an audio player: does it sound like the audio file you loaded?
Yes, i tried it with one of the sample audio files and it worked fine, heard it just like the original. I then tried it with 2 of my songs and they both played fine, all from the voice_input.wav. When I exit out of HLDJ, the voice_input.wav disappears, as expected.
4-c) If it exists, return to the game, and enter the following into console:
I entered it in, with the semicolons, and it didnt work. I then entered each one in seperately, still didn't work.
When I hit F1 (the shortcut key), the little voice bubble icon shows up. The same one that would normally indicate holding down the V button for mic. I originally had my mic in while testing HLDJ, and according to my brother, he could only hear me, so it activated my mic instead of the music. I then unplugged the mic, and am currently using regular headphones. So that is my current audio setup...
It should also be worth noting that for some strange reason, the little red/blue box (depending on team color) that indicates that 'my username' is talking showed up briefly whenever I shot using the scout's Shortstop (not sure if other classes have the same effect, but it was only the primary gun for scout). This is weird huh...
Anyway, thanks for reading, I hope someone has a fix

Re: Music won't play
Ok I just did 'bind v' and it shows up as "v" = "+voicerecord"Renegade wrote:- moved to help -
read http://hldj.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=21#p21, and make sure you 'v' key isn't being rebound to something else (entering 'bind v' should say it is currently bound to "hldj_playaudio")
There's a possible problem/soultion... now how do I bind v to hldj_playaudio?
Gonna google this as I wait for a response...

Re: Music won't play
Ok, I just assigned v to play audio so now it says "v" = "hldj_playaudio" like it should, but I still can't hear anything.
Just put in "voice_inputfromfile 1; voice_loopback 1; voice_forcemicrecord 0; voice_modenable 1; voice_enable 1; +voicerecord" again and i couldn't hear anything.
So much for that...

Re: Music won't play
either it's improper audio format (only use the sample audio while testing) or the server isn't configured properly (check that the values of the 2 sv_ variables you need to set are correct).
Re: Music won't play
I'm having all of the exact same problems described, and i can assure you it has nothing to do with what server you load into. Have got a few hundred hours logged using HLDJ and something has changed over the past few months - came back to using it and it doesnt work, regardless of server. I too have tried everything the user above has posted, and then some.Renegade wrote:either it's improper audio format (only use the sample audio while testing) or the server isn't configured properly (check that the values of the 2 sv_ variables you need to set are correct).
