CS:GO problem "Unknown Command: playaudio"

Post by metalfaust »

I've been using HLDJ for many years and it works in all my games just fine, but I can't get it to work in the CS:GO beta. It launches CS:GO just fine, HLDJ initializes and I can bring up a list of my audio files in the console, but anytime I try to play anything I just get an error saying "Unknown command: playaudio". I've tried it on both community servers and Valve servers with the same result. The thing is, not five minutes ago I ran into a guy who was playing sound clips in a CS:GO server and he had no problem, he claimed he was using HLDJ. I'm using the most recent 64 bit version of HLDJ.

1) Does HLDJ launch the game correctly for you? - Yes

2) Does "HLDJ Loaded Successfully" appear in console on starting the game (with no errors)? - Yes

3) What is the console output after selecting a song, or issuing other HLDJ commands such as "hldj_next"? - "Host_WriteConfiguration: Wrote cfg/hldj_cmd_b.cfg"

4) Create your own local server and set the appropriate sv_ commands (see above), then:
4-a) Load one of the sample audio files and perform a search of your Steam directory (without stopping HLDJ) for the file "voice_input.wav" - does it show up, and if so, where? - steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive

4-b) If it exists, open it in an audio player: does it sound like the audio file you loaded? - Yes, voice_input.wav plays whatever song or sound clip I loaded

4-c) If it exists, return to the game, and enter the following into console: voice_inputfromfile 1; voice_loopback 1; voice_forcemicrecord 0; voice_modenable 1; voice_enable 1; +voicerecord
Does the audio file start to play? - Yes, it plays when I copy paste the above commands into the console

5) Does voice normally work for you? If not, or you do not have a mic, have you remembered to set up any applicable options in your operating system and/or the game? - Yes, voice normally works for me and I have a mic.

Again, the problem seems to be that CS:GO is not recognizing the 'playaudio' command, everything else is working as intended and this only affects CS:GO, every other Source game works fine.

EDIT #1:I just tried to re-bind my start/stop key to see if that was the problem, but for some reason HLDJ is not recognizing the new keybinds, it keeps thinking Delete is my play key even when I re-bind it to something like End or Home

EDIT #2: HLDJ is correctly pointing to steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive where voice_input.wav is being created, it's set that way in the settings.hldj file

EDIT #3: Typing hldj_playaudio into the console after selecting a song plays the song just fine, but the start/stop keybind still doesn't work at all

'playaudio' was the alias used in very old versions of HLDJ, your play audio key should be bound to hldj_playaudio, in case it wasn't updated, you can re-setup the games in HLDJ or bind it manually in console. If you're doing this and it keeps reverting, check that Steam Cloud isn't resurrecting some old configs.
