Just get Deep sounds and echoes

I installed HLDJ like it said on the manual (11025 hz 16bit) and goldwaved it to -12.5 (always worked for me on my old PC with HLDJ sounded perfect) and I press my play audio button and all I hear is echoes and a deep moaning sound (like from a very slow mo clip) someone help me on this?
