Cant hear anything :(

Ok.
So i just got HLDJ and installed it all corrected, added a sound as a .wav and 16bit 11025Hz and all that. Saved in my audio folder in the hldj.
But when i join a server and type 'la' and then press '1' for my song then press F2 to play it, all it shows is the talk sign...not my actual name, then when i press F2 to stop again the song randomly plays for like 0.01 sec all you hear is like a beep.
Im trying this in TF2 and i know im on a server witch lets it play cause a friend use the HFDJ on that server.
