HLDJ not playing audio in Left 4 Dead 2

So I activate Left 4 Dead 2 through HLDJ and the command prompt appears a usual.
I type in la
And select my audio file
But then I get this error
CGameUIConVarRef doesn't point to an existing ConVar
So I checked the sticky and tried plugging in a mic into the mic outlet.
And the mic works fine and the "Sound" part in my control panel fully recognizes that it's there and that it works.
And it even works when I try to test my mic. But it still won't play the sound files when I press F1.
Everything is enabled in the Left 4 Dead audio section so I'm not sure what's wrong here.
