Generic "shit won't work please help me" help thread

Right, well I was going through the help sticky to make my thread on needing help because I'm a retard and still can't get hldj to work 3-4 years later, and somehow during the process of going through the commands that were suggested, playing one of the samples actually worked. I then tried to play my own .wav that I had edited, and that still continued to not work. I was just wondering if I could get some help on what I did wrong here with trying to get my music to the right proper format and all that? I used audacity as was suggested. The file was originally a .mp3 from youtube converted at http://www.video2mp3.net/ in their so called "high quality". I tried to follow the Audacity instructions as best as I could but I guess I still managed to screw something up along the line. As far as I can tell, it's set to 11025Hz, mono and 16-bit just as the directions said.
