I just installed HLDJ and I'm using it with TF2, it successfully loads, but when I try to select a song from la, it says Unknown command "writecfg"

In Setup, check that the Engine is set to "Source". Normally this should be set automatically, but I've heard a few rare cases where it wasn't.
Also, if you're not already, try using the "Current Build" version (contains a few fixes that might address that).

that was the problem, it was defaulting to HL2, thx
