CSS, lags when playing audio

Hi,

I'm new to HLDJ so I might be missing something, but whenever i try to play audio on CSS (havent tried anything else yet) it lags, my ping goes through the roof.
E.g. *hits play button*, in a few seconds theres lag which keeps getting worse and worse until you stop the audio. Once stopped what was playing, latency back to normal, everything fine again. After finding this problem another one pops up: when I try to talk over my microphone it does the same thing and lags, even if hldj isn't even running so now i have to limit my talking to about 2-3 seconds tops before it starts lagging.
I have the right format for the audio: project rate 11025, Mono, 16-bit, wav. format.
Is there anyway this can be fixed?

Check that your cvars "cl_updaterate" and "cl_cmdrate" are set to reasonable values (if not, try their defaults), and set "net_graph 3" to monitor your ping/choke/loss. Also, try multiple different servers. If it happens on each one, it's likely a problem with your connection.

Wow, thankyou so much for that! I put them to default and now hldj works fine. But whats even better: The CSS servers i couldnt play due to lag are now playable again!
So you fixed two probs for me...You fixed a problem the CSS help forums couldn't even fix. I feel so noob, I have never even gone near those console commands before, I dont understand how they changed.
Anyway Thanks!
