Hi, I just want to say thanks for all the effort you've put into HLDJ.

I'm not trying to start a thread trolling the virtues of one player against the next, just wanted to point out one thing I've noticed.

That is that HLSS seems to play sound files with less distortion and better amplitude than HLDJ.

I really love all the features of HLDJ and the UI is superior to HLSS. Unfortunately, if audio file conversion & optimization are going to be a stumbling block, I'm going to have to stick with HLSS.

I hope you manage to overcome this obstacle, Renegade, you have a superior player UI and setup.

Audio quality/playback has little to do with HLDJ; it just loads them, it's the game that plays them (the same applies to any other program of the like). There are minor tweaks here and there that can be placed into a script and used to squeeze out just that little bit more of quality during playback, but infact HLDJ already does this for you: voice_fadeouttime set to anything else but 0 is a known cause for music fading out, HLDJ sets this to 0 for you, along with optional optimizing for peak network performance (see options). Because of this, any differences you experience with HLDJ should be if anything, better; if not, they may be a result of misconfigured optimizations or use of other scripts that may negate HLDJ's, aside from the usual suspects such as the file itself, the server, the latency, or any number of variable factors up to and including personal bias, etc.

If you really believe there is a perceivable difference in quality, you're going to have to give me a little bit more to go on than that, try systematically eliminating all other factors except for HLDJ (i.e. test exactly the same files, in exactly the same server, with exactly the same latency, etc).
