mic plays instead of sound

I tried HLDJ and HLSS and get the same result each time. I have some experience with using HLSS way back so I know how to load the right directories and make sure everything like that was correct. I double checked everything and made sure that I converted the music files correctly and everything loads in game correctly. Also it states in console that HLDJ has loaded correctly without errors that I can see. So when I load the file and hit the key that plays the sounds my mic will turn on and instead of playing the wav file it plays my mic. Im running 64 bit vista so im not sure if that would have any effect of anything or not but I'm at a loss as to what the problem is. Hopefully someone can help.

After loading a file, alt-tab and search your Steam directory for the file "voice_input.wav"; where does it show up (if at all)?
Also, make sure to test on your own local server and use the latest version of HLDJ.

the voice_input.wav file is showing up in steam -> steamapps -> accountname -> counter-strike source

Assuming the game is CSS, then this is correct; HLDJ is functioning properly. Check that you've converted the song into the proper format following the guide in the sticky linked near the top of this page.

Greetings, all!

I just wanted to post my findings for this particular issue.. I was having the exact same problem - Everything was working fine, the sample_src.wav works, but the songs I had didn't (I've been trying to get HLJ to work with TF2). Instead of music, only audio from my mic was playing and I couldn't figure out why. I have a Creative Soundcard and the latest version of their drivers and used Audacity (1.3.9) to convert a particular song. I tried using Goldwave and the song played just fine.

After a bit of testing I realized that Audacity screws with Creative Audio Drivers. On the second and third bars (top-down) there's microphone options. On the third bar there is a drop-down menu that lets the user select their microphone input. I converted the song three times.. Once with "Microphone" selected, "Line-In" selected, and "What-U-Hear" selected. Each time, after trying to play the song in game my system's Microphone settings were changed to the corresponding input (Example: I played the song that had "What-U-Hear" selected, my system settings were changed to "What-U-Hear".) as long as that song was playing.

I wasn't able to find a solution for using Audacity with Creative drivers, but I did confirm the problem on another computer with the same creative soundcard and the same drivers.

Hope this helps someone!
