Suggestion: Fix third-party mod setup

Setting up third-party mods is ridiculously asinine. HLSS doesn't require anything like this. This program needs improvements before it'll become popular. Get to work.

Third party mods do not always use the same directories, and as such require that you specify them. The best that can be done is for HLDJ to guess which folder to use based on the gameinfo.txt (I'm working on this) but that's hit or miss, it may make some setups easy, and others more frustrating.
From what I've been told, the setup procedure for HLDJ is the easiest out there. But if you feel otherwise, it'd be more helpful for you to list step-by-step the procedure used with any other software, and contrast that with your ideal procedure (and the one HLDJ uses now).
p.s. asinine is creating a name on the forums of the same software and not even spelling it correctly.

Yeah, my keyboard sucks and I didn't care to QC my registered name. Woe.
The simplest option for the user would require some work on your part. I would check out/install all the popular HL mods and find out which folder they are based from (Source SDK, HL2, etc.) When the user adds a third-party mod, the program would check its database to see what folder that mod is based from, and link it appropriately. This would be time consuming on your part, but it might help all the people out there who can't understand your instructions and aren't lucky enough to go to the forum and find the correct method for setting up a third-party mod.
By the way, I do use HLDJ over HLSS. I like the ability to choose any song from a directory and it definitely beats HLSS's method of adding each song one-by-one to the list. My apologies if my first post (or my forum name) were rude; I was frustrated with the program until I got it to work properly. (One of my problems was both HLSS and HLDJ were loaded into my autoexec.cfg, so it was causing some cross-interference.) Good job on HLDJ. Please accept my small donation and continue to improve this program.

Thanks, the latter post was much more helpful. Going back through HLDJ's TODO list again, I found a note I had made earlier about AppIDs. I'm currently working on mapping AppIDs listed in a 3rd party source mod's "gameinfo.txt" to game audio directories. An AppID of 220 maps to "Half-Life 2" and 215 to "Source SDK base", so HLDJ can muster a guess at the correct folder; however there are some sticky areas to this (SourceMods can be based on more than one game and exist seperately from account-owned games), and so it will take some work, but I've got a rough attempt prototyped (see attachment). Thanks for your comments elaborating on your initial post.
And thank-you for the donation! (every bit helps)
