Help tricking Steam into thinking I have a mic

I need help tricking tf2 into thinking I have a microphone plugged in when I do not. I cannot get HLDJ to work otherwise because it won't play when I press my hotkey. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you've set up all applicable settings in TF2/Steam/Windows/etc.? I've also heard that if plug in a microphone even just once on your computer, it can help, so if you know friend who has one, you could borrow it.
