Game will not launch (CS 1.6)

1) Does HLDJ launch the game correctly for you? No
I always get a "Could not launch the game application" error
This is probably because I have a retail version of CS.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit.
I've tried compatibility mode and running it as an administrator.

Be sure that the game path defined in HLDJ's game settings corresponds to the actual game's directory.

Well, I looked at another guide on setting up HLDJ, and it seemed to be the correct path.
Could there be any other causes?

Is it a steam game? Does HLDJ find the path automatically when you click add all in setup?
