Really i have. But this magnificent tool doesn't work.
I don't know where to start.
I type start it up everything correctly. la the number.
press F1. stops for a second and nothing happens. Not even the microphone icon. No sound. nothing. nada.
I have a Vostro 200 slim tower with a Nvidia Geforce 6800. If that matters.
I have reinstalled and uninstall and installed and everything. I have properly converted it. Not even the sample works.
Not even doom music.
Running vista, i don't own a mic. HLSS doesn't work up for me either.
Strange things that happen - even when i start TF2 without HLDJ on, The "HLDJ loaded succesfully" message still appears.
Even stranger - HLSS message appears! when i have hldj on or not.
I've done the voice input thing... I've done everything (i've read every single thread in the forum) here.
The game im trying is TF2. and dont come up with the crap that i need a proper game directory cause i've seen 2000 videos of 12 year olds doing it.
help me renegade... Help me...
I've tried everything.

Re: I've tried everything.
- what version of HLDJ are you using (make sure its the latest, 1.5.0)?
- after you select a song, verify that the file "voice_input.wav" exists in your "steamapps\username\team fortress 2" directory
- and this one's important: Vista has known quirks with the mic setup whereby users have reported needing to plug in a mic at least once to get the sound
- options properly configured. I'm sure tweaking the right settings would result in the same effect, but suffice to say: double check that the recording/input options are properly setup in both the game and the operating system. (search the web for pointers as I don't own the POS that is Vista)
- Your autoexec.cfg in the "tf2\cfg" directory is not being cleared properly, that is why you still see messages from HLDJ. Check that it is not marked read-only. Alternatively if you have nothing of interest in there you can simply delete it.

2. I thought you said you've "done the voice input thing"?:
a) Start HLDJ and the game (verify it's loaded successfully with no errors)
b) Load a song (verify there are no errors)
c) Open your Steam directory and perform a search within it for the file "voice_input.wav"
d) does it show up?
if it does show up, where?
If it doesn't show up, make sure HLDJ is still started/responsive. Also, try running HLDJ as administrator and in compatibility mode.
