Skipping and crashing

In Counter strike source, when I press my play audio key, my sound files play normally at first, but then they start skipping about a few seconds in.
All of the settings are correct on all of the wave files (16 bit, 11kHz, mono).

Either that or cs:s crashes altogether

fixed by uninstalling internet explorer 8

Yes, IE8 has nothing to do with your problem. Test with the sample audio, if you find that randomly skips, check out the sticky for the dual-core fix, otherwise you might try tweaking your network cvars.

Did you remember to test on your own local server? It could be network related. If that is the case, google up a tutorial on tweaking network vars for your game. It could also be FPS-related, try running the game with low settings at a low (640x480) resolution.
