noisy feedback-echo instead of music

Post by SayHelloRosco »

In TF2 (I havn't experienced this in other games yet), hldj will take a second of sound played in game when I press del, and repeat over and over and over again, adding a layer each time, so it gets pretty noisy.

The songs are converted properly (tested and worked in other source-engine games).

Say if someone was talking...
he said "hello".

If I press del (my bind for playing songs) w/ a song selected at the moment he said "hello", it will just say "HELLO HELLO HELLO HELLO HELLO" adding a layer on top of another.

Does this occur everytime with every song including the sample audio file(s)? Are you using speakers and a microphone? If yes to the former and no to the latter, it could be a bug in the game. As a temporary fix, try toggling voice_loopback to "0" in console when this happens.

On the off chance it may be related to a file linking problem, you can try placing some audio files on a network share and loading from there; this will force HLDJ to copy the file instead of linking it (example of how to access a network share in-game: "bind = \\computername\sharename\; hldjsd")
