Can't play music! (and funny sounds)

I have set up hldj fine and all with the latest version.
I have followed all the instructions and I can play some small sounds but when I play them, the thing sounds really squeaky and high-pitched. Help!
But the main thing is one song I try to play. I convert it fine and all and it loads fine in the console but when I press f1 (my play button) the mic turns on and nothing happens.
When I press f1 again the song starts playing just before the mic turns off. Help!

Please read the sticky. Also, one question that is not in the sticky, did you convert with HLDJ's built in converter? If so, make sure you selected the correct engine.
