HLDJ not working on fresh install, Win 7

Post by Epik Envy »

1) Does HLDJ launch the game correctly for you? - Launch it manually. But, the program DOES launch it.
2) Does "HLDJ Loaded Successfully" appear in console on starting the game (with no errors)? - Yes.
3) What is the console output after selecting a song, or issuing other HLDJ commands such as "hldj_next"?
Example;
] 5
Host_WriteConfiguration: Wrote cfg/hldj_cmd_e.cfg
Loaded : 0 - A History of Babies
4) After loading one of the sample audio files, perform a search of your Steam directory (without stopping HLDJ) for the file "voice_input.wav" - does it show up, and if so, where? - Shows up occasionally; in the team fortress 2 base folder.
5) Does voice normally work for you? If not, or you do not have a mic, have you remembered to set up any applicable options in your operating system and/or the game? *

No microphone. Not yet, atleast.

Using Windows 7, can't find the whole "Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording, and Options -> Voice." thing.

It's "Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording" for Windows 7 (or just start typing "Sound" into the start menu) and "Options -> Voice" for the game.

Nothing? Voice is enabled, by the way.

Check your console, I'm fairly certain that without a recording device the Source engine will complain about "DirectSound capture failure" and that voice transmission will not be enabled.

How you would get Windows to recognize an audio device might be different for each piece of hardware, and I couldn't tell you the steps exactly, but there are some suggestions in the sticky, or you can try searching the web.

Right now, the only thing I have plugged in are my headphones. Nothing for recording at all.

OK; I found an old microphone. Plugged it in, got it on. Gonna unplug it and try HLDJ now.

Ah, there it is.

Plugged in an old pair of headphones into the mic slot and got that.

I have a USB microphone. If I plug it in then unplug it, then unplug and replug my headphones HLDJ works. Is there something like a virtual microphone?

Nevermind, found the fix. Plug in the microphone, but set the main speakers to be my headphones.
