Read, and then re-read, now I'll ask

Post by Richard Cranium »

OK I have read the manual about 3 times and through most of the help forums I saw a TF2 post that sounds similar to the issue I am having. HLDJ finds my games, the autoexec.cfg contains the hldf_ cfg and the other hldj files are there. Though when I start Counter Strike: Source it does not load in console. Using exec autoexec.cfg receives no responce from the game, and directly trying to start the hldj_init.cfg I get a cannot exec error any ideas or am I just a complete noob.... If your autoexec.cfg and/or hldj_init.cfg are in your game's "cfg" directory and exec-ing them in game gives no response, that is a good indicator for a clean re-install. I remember seeing this problem just once before. I had the person create a simple test.cfg with the command "echo this is a test" in it, and place it in the "cfg" folder. The game refused to execute test.cfg (if you'd like, try it out as well and let me know if it works), in which case I was completely stumped. I only hope re-installing worked for him too. Also, he seemed to be missing a "valve.rc" in the same folder.

well thanks for the heads up tried the test.cfg and got nothing in return so I will retry it over night tonight and let you know. I have had some other oddities with my css. Screenshots not showing in folders weird random things. I will give a full report if the reinstall works and/or doesnt.
