music does not play

Post by LoopyDemon »

hello, everyone. i downloaded this cool program yesterday by a friends advice.
i unzipped, configured ( with setup ), converted most of my songs. Everything
is fine from here, but when i open a game ( IE: Alien Swarm ) and i open console
then i type LA ingame , choosed my 4th song on list ( Back in Black - AC/DC )
and then pressed my play button (F6) , but music just don't play. I saw the bind
of F6, and it says " hldj_playaudio " which i think is ok. i've tried so much, but
it just keep the same thing, music dont play

any help is recieved, thanks.

1) Does HLDJ launch the game correctly for you?

Yes
2) Does "HLDJ Loaded Successfully" appear in console on starting the game (with no errors)?

Yes
3) What is the console output after selecting a song, or issuing other HLDJ commands such as "hldj_next"?

i dont get this one , you mean this?:

HLDJ successfully loaded!
Quick-Start Guide:
1 ) enter 'la' to display the audio list.
2 ) enter the number of the file to load.
3 ) press the F6 key to start/stop audio.

Basic Commands:
hldjn, hldjp, hldjr - loads the next/previous/random audio file.
hldjca, hldjcd - displays the current audio file/directory in console.
hldjsca, hldjstca - displays the current audio file in public/team chat.
hldjsq, hldjqa - stops HLDJ and quits the current game/quits both.

[enter 'hldj1' for more commands/help]
[enter 'hldj' to display this guide again]

4) After loading one of the sample audio files, perform a search of your Steam directory (without stopping HLDJ) for the file "voice_input.wav" - does it show up, and if so, where?

i did a search, and i don't find it anywhere on my steam folder

5) Does voice normally work for you? If not, or you do not have a mic, have you remembered to set up any applicable options in your operating system and/or the game? *
not really, my old microphone is now of my brother.

well, searching on google, i found this from the same forum (this one) that had the solution! it's like this:
Well, I found out what the problem was: line-in was not enabled. Vista, in combination with my Realtek HD Audio drivers, forced my line-in to be disabled by default. Team Fortress needs the line-in to be enabled to work. XP would enable you to adjust this through volume control, but my Vista required a registry tweak.

This is what I found:
If you have a Realtek HD audio chipset (mine is an ALC268) with a Vista OS and need to activate the built-in software audio router (input monitor) you need to enable by modifying the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings\ForceDisableID

Edit the Binary Value from "00" to "01" and reboot. Your Realtek HD Audio Manager will now have extra tabs, one of which is 'FrontLineIn'. Select this tab and click the 'Line In Playback' button to modify settings according to your preference.

And it fixed the problem for me.
and now i t fixed the problem for me too. Blam this freaking windows 7...
