voice_input.wav

Post by gimmesomelemonade »

1) Does HLDJ launch the game correctly for you?
Yes.
2) Does "HLDJ Loaded Successfully" appear in console on starting the game (with no errors)?
Yes, it shows correctly without error.
3) What is the console output after selecting a song, or issuing other HLDJ commands such as "hldj_next"?
I play a song, but what I get is audio from my computer, but it echos and starts doing strange noises.
4-a) After loading one of the sample audio files, perform a search of your Steam directory (without stopping HLDJ) for the file "voice_input.wav" - does it show up, and if so, where?
Tried a search and nothing came up. I copy and paste it into the game folder (team fortress 2) but after I enter the game, it vanishes.

So yeah, I did a quick search and noticed a poster that claimed he fixed the error by running the application off in the game folder. What does this mean? Thanks.

HLDJ will delete voice_input.wav on start and stop. Unless it is the game that is deleting it, in which case that is odd behavior.
Not sure what the poster meant in that context, link the thread.

Edit: I tried running it off the HL2:DM folder and now it works! I just want to say that I love HLDJ! It's way better than HLSS! Good luck with your project, Renegade!
This is it. Anyway, thanks for letting me know that HLDJ deletes it (or the game itself), but I could use further help.

The game there was HL2: DeathMatch, so he was just noting what the correct folder to use was. Try copy-pasting voice_input.wav into the same location but without starting HLDJ, this will let you know whether it is something else deleting the file.

Well it doesn't delete when I play the game without launching HLDJ, so this isn't the problem.

Try starting HLDJ and the game first, then copy-pasting voice_input.wav.

Still no luck, BUT the file I loaded appeared as voice_input in the tf2 folder. This must be normal behaviour. I tried again, but got the unwanted computer noise.

Yes, that is the expected behaviour. Which means your problem is instead likely related to the Steam update, see the sticky/rules/announcements: http://hldj.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1079

I've just found a TF2DJ. I'll use that for now, but I will check later as I would like to use HLDJ in Counter-Valve come up witStrike: Source as well. Thank you for helping. I'll wait to see what Valve do after this whoule Steam update.
