Sound takes about 1 second to play

Hi there. I used to use HLSS on my old computer Vista 64 bit. When I pressed the play key the sound would play instantly. I got a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit. Now when I press they play key it takes about 1 second before the sound starts playing. When I press the play key again it takes about 1 second to stop playing. I thought this was a HLSS issue so I downloaded HLDJ. It does the same thing. It takes about 1 second to start playing the audio after I press the play button. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I copy and pasted my steam folder from my old computer to my new one. I don't think that should be an issue.

I think it's something with the voice_loopback cvar. I had someone else test it out. When he talked he heard himself instantly, but when I enable it it takes a second before I heard myself.

the cvar is controlled by HLDJ, but if it's being set elsewhere perhaps its the problem. it can also just be game lag.

Where else would it be set at? I don't have any scripts installed.

no idea, in that case it's probably just cpu/gpu lag.
