I know the problem, how do i fix it?

I can't get hldj to work on tf2, when i start the game up, these are the console messages i get, if you read it, you will see the problems, i see them, but i dont know how to fix them:

Means you don't have a microphone or other sound input device enabled, see the sticky/rules on recording options.

I plugged in a microphone and then it worked
