No music plays at all.

I'm almost 100% sure I've set it up properly. Selecting the song in console works, and it shows the "what ever loaded" message. Going into the directory, the voice input is there, with my .wav. When I press my bind key though, no mic icon shows up. Same with when I press my mic key. Typing playaudio in console does nop goos either. I'm on Vista if it helps.

Open up the voice_input.wav to ensure it's the file you intended to load. If all seems well, the problem is likely with the mic setup in the game. Specifically for Vista, I've heard you'll need to have a mic plugged in during setup to configure properly; plus there have been (I remember a post just recently, check below) cases where certain drivers (i.e. Realtek) were disabled by Vista or some such nonsense...

Try going through the game's/Steam's mic setup options again, and search around if your particular sound card may have issues in Vista.

I assume it is my sound card. Things is, I have no idea how I'd update my drivers or roll them back. =S

It may not just be a straightforward case of updating... there may be some option you'll need to enable/configure.

Well, still no solution sadly. I'll check the board every little while for updates.

Try posting on the Valve forums, or opening a ticket. Tell them that you've got a problem activating your microphone in-game.
