HLDJ Not Working In TF 2

HDLJ loads up, it even lists audio and loads files. However, when I hit my preset key, no audio files play (the box with my name does not even show up). I have a Dell with a quad core, Windows Vista Premium, and a newer graphics card. The only thread that I could find about my problem had a solution that just plain baffled me; I am not very tech-savvy and do not want to mess up my new computer by altering the registry. Is there a solution to my problem or do I have to uninstall HLDJ? : (

[edit] I forgot to mention that when I start HLDJ, it does not start TF 2; it is in the right directory because the orb glows green and everything.

Can you check if it is the correct TF2 dir ("tf") and not "tf/cfg"? and that the game's engine is marked as "Source" in HLDJ?
This is a recent problem due to Valve tinkering with something and accidentally removing TF2's gameinfo.txt file (required by HLDJ to recognize it correctly).
Last I checked they had fixed it, but just in case:
1) Try restarting Steam to grab any update that may be pending
2) If gameinfo.txt is not created after the restart, create a dummy gameinfo.txt in your tf directory (team fortress 2/tf) and make sure HLDJ is pointed to this correct path

Alternatively, the older version of HLDJ may work (but I recommend trying the above solutions first).

Everything was in its proper place. However, I uninstalled it and then dled the 1.45 version of HLDJ and now it works just fine. Thanks for the help.
