Friends List Always Enabled

When using HLDJ the friends list will always sign in automatically when Steam is set not to sign in automatically. Is there any way to get around this? I really don't want my friends list signing in every time I open the game. Thanks

And you've verified that the same behaviour occurs under the same circumstances (i.e. same game, server, settings, etc) when not using HLDJ? If not, it's highly unlikely HLDJ is causing this and but rather the game.
