L4D2- Will not list matches
On running HLDJ in L4D2, online matches will not be displayed, and if "quick Play" is chosen, even after letting the game sit for half an hour, no connection will ever be made. HLDJ works in tf2, and I have followed all operating instructions to the letter. What am I missing?

It sounds like your problem is with the game. Can you verify this happens consistently only when HLDJ is used?
You can try unchecking Launch Game in Options, and start the game yourself if you believe it has something to do with HLDJ launching the game. Other than that, I doubt HLDJ is causing the problem, so you might try contacting Steam support.
